Frenfield

This game was solo developed in 96 hours for GMTK 2026 under the theme "Countdown". My mind immediately went to sad dracula ("count" feeling "down") and I knew I wanted to make a puzzle game, so I decided on this bat mechanic where you turn into a bat on a countdown and it changes your movement so you can cross gaps... I decided you'd play as Renfield, because he's like Dracula's friend right? I made art assets on the first evening and all the levels on the second day because I had like 4 hours of train rides and grid paper... Then in the evening of the second day I watched the Renfield movie because I wanted some context, then I realised not only can Renfield not turn into a bat... But he's not exactly Dracula's friend, more of a servant. So I carried on away :D

Post-Jam Updates:

Changed some of the levels a small bit to make them more interesting

Added Mobile support

Fixed some minor bugs

Added a simple level select

Everything else was made by me within the jam period.

All sound effects were made using BFXR and Famistudio.

All art was made using Aseprite.

The game engine used was Godot 4.7.
